How to draw this kneepads?

I asked someone for help, but his solution didn’t feel very ideal.

Well, I had a quick go at it, but don't think I did much good:

It ended up bigger and still doesn't have the pixels to represent the pattern of the original well ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I am also further researching how to draw this kind of kneepads, I don’t know how feasible this drawing method is.

This new one at least removes the smiles on the knees effects…
Will look forward to seeing what you eventually use….
