Turn fog to pitch black

Hello fellow Minecrafters,
It's been a few days I have been struggling to turn the fog of the game to pitch black.
It is normally light blue and I would like to darken it for a 1.12.2 texture pack using Optifine to make the game a little bit scarier.
If anybody knows how to help me, it would be gladly appreciated, whether it's in creating a texture pack that turns the fog black or by giving instructions to do so.

The fog color is stored in a 256x256 image file in minecraft/mcpatcher/colormap/fog0.png If I recall correctly. Color it full black.
