CARPE NOCTEM: SEIZE THE NIGHT
Welcome to Saxtonvale Maximum Security Prison, the harshest prison in the UK. For crimes you may or may not have committed, you find yourself confined within its walls for essentially what is a life sentence. Every inmate is kept in solitary for a vast majority of their stay, and have no real contact with their fellow prisoners. Beatings from the sadistic and brutal guards are all too often, the food is barely enough to live off, and you have no contact with the outside world. You know you cannot win, you know there is no escape. The depressing monotony of your imprisonment crushes your soul and reduces you to a hollow shell of a human.
The only escape from the endless torment is sleep. In your dreams, you are free. You can be whoever, do whatever - and there are no guards to beat you, no four walls to hold you in. Every time you wake, you begin counting the hours until the lights go out and you can withdraw into your mind once more.
But recently, something strange has been happening. Although you still dream every night, it has been a strange series of dreams that are always disturbingly vivid and real. And with every night, you realize that in your dreams you are not alone...
So, what is this roleplay about?
As an inmate of Saxtonvale, you are pretty much hopeless and defenseless to begin with. As a guard, you are allowed free movement through the prison but are never allowed out of the walls - you signed up for a tour of duty, and as a result live in the prison. However please bear in mind the the RP WILL revolve around the prisoners, so I'd like to see prisoner applications. Guards will be denied if I think there's too many.
Every in-RP day, you will play your character in the prison. As an inmate, most of your time will be spent in solitary but you will be allowed to, on occasion, visit some of the recreational areas of the prison - library, pool, gym, etc. However the prison is heavily guarded, so there's no chance of escape... yet. As a guard, you will perform many guardly duties - patrolling wards, escorting prisoners, talking to the Warden, beating up inmates, etc.
However, every so often I will call 'lights out', and the real fun begins. Every night when both the day guards and the prisoners fall asleep, they are all transported to the same dream world. Although they don't realize it, everyone they meet is a member of the prison - both staff and prisoners. This dream setting will be a different one every 'night'; for example, one dream could be set in a fantasy world with orcs and wizards and knights, and the next could be set in a shopping mall. Every dream you will become a different character to suit the setting, with a different job/gear/looks/dream name/etc. When I call 'Breakfast time', your dreams will abruptly end and you will return to roleplaying as prisoners and guards until the next 'lights out'.
TL;DR, It's basically two RP's in one, with a whooooole lotta crossover.
Rules
1) Same ol' rules as usual - no metagaming, godmoding, bunnying, OP characters, killing others without consent, etc.
2) There is no escape... yet. The idea of this RP is to try and make a plan to escape with your inmates, but to do that you first need to figure out who is who in your dreams. Take it easy on the plot development - we don't want you sussing everyone out on page 3 and breaking out by page 5, that would ruin the RP. And yes, there is a conspiracy but you'll all find out about that later. Mwahaha.
3) As per usual, romance is PG only. Not that you'd be able to hook up in the prison or anything, anyway.
4) Two sentences per post, please. And remember kids, use proper grammar. If you type like you've bashed your head on the keyboard, I will not hesitate to hit you repeatedly with a hardcover copy of the Oxford dictionary. And trust me, those things are heavy.
5) Weapons are fine, but only in the dream world. As things progress, you might be able to fashion some weapons to take on the guards with, but only time will tell.
6) The dream world and the real world are interlinked - if you break your arm in the dream, you break your arm in reality. Coincidentally, if you die in your dream you die in your cell.

Greetings, friends! I've been a bit inactive what with exam period coming up and such, so I apologize for the delay.
Heh, high hopes for getting out. Shame Saxtonvale isn't a place for prisoners on remand >:D Accepted.
Interesting backstory, interesting backstory indeed... I would have liked to see the repercussions of that fight explained a bit more (maybe someone died, or perhaps it ended in a full-blown riot?) but it will suffice. Accepted.
On another note, why is there so many people in here for violent crimes? Come on gaiz, we need some drug dealers or money launderers and shizz. Mix it up a little!

Backstory: Alex was a simple man with a simple life. He was in a coffee shop one day when he got a text from his wife. It read as said-

Alex was outraged, he worked hard for money and food on the table. And she just leaves him like that? He spilled his coffee on a woman in the shop and went home. The next day.
Alex was moving large boulders, so he got in the crane. He started thinking about his wife, his hand moved in anger and he crushed someone with the boulder. He thrusted his hand again and he knocked somebody across the town. The cops were on patrol and saw him, they ran up and tazed him. Then it was all hazy.
When he awoke he was in Saxtonvale prison, "Where am I?" he asked. The cops said "Saxtonvale High Security Prison, you have been charged with murder."
Personality: Angry, an easy going guy. High hopes of getting out.

She was at a club with her friends and a few boys started up on them. They called them stupid and other words I shall not post. That's when Marissa had enough. She got up and smacked one boy across the face, nearly making him tumble. His two other friends started to attack. By then, bartenders were panicking and calling the cops. It was a battle of the sexes. The police came, arrested the troublemakers, and spread them far apart. Marissa, starting the dangerous battle had been shipped to this awful prison. She is like every other prisoner: She wakes up, eats, gets beaten, and goes back to her own world. She enjoys spending time in the library when she can before night so she can "Dream Better".

This sounds interesting. It reminds me of the Escape from Furnace (or in the UK, just Furnace) series, which is good. I will most likely be applying. Although it's likely I won't have an application in for a few days. I usually take at least two days on my apps, and I'm already writing something at the moment, and I'd rather not jump from one app to another without having the first one finished.

When Vine was convicted for hacking against the government and conspiring against them, his buinesness, Youngbloud industries(a technology development company) was sold off and Vine was thrown into jail after a three month long trial
Personality: Vine is a very stubborn person, though he is reasonable. He is short tempered but usually keeps to himself.

Pretty good app, one thing I would like to see though is how he ended up with all that wealth and power with his company after being an orphan who kept having run-ins with the Law. Did he study? Did he inherit something from a distant relative? Did he win the lottery? Please provide some further detail and I'll re-review

When the will of Yendel was read, Vine discovered his uncle left the company to him, as he was well accomplished in the areas of technology. Vine took place as owner and CEO of the company.
After taking over the company, Vine renamed the companie to Youngblood Enterprises, and branching the buisness out into other Economic areas, the company grew in status.

Convicted crime(s), not falsely accused: Theft, murder, arson, political assassination, and distribution of narcotics.
Backstory: Aidan was a I.R.A. member born directly into one of the biggest families in it. He was raised to hate the British and has cause several dozen crimes against Britain alone. His first of his crimes was small time narcotic sales, and ounce here a few grams there. He quickly moved up the chain to a leader of a cell block. He had political connections which could normally keep him out of jail. He helped a few times to burn town town halls and kill those inside as well.
He hated literally every british person he would come across. When he found one alone he would commonly jump them, not even taking their money. He would organize hunts for them trying to remove every last one from Ireland permanently. When a British person would come to him for his "product" he always kept a special poisoned stash just for them. He removed every last British person from the towns he controlled.
Eventually a British person had the balls to run for mayor of one of his towns. This man went missing withing three days. A few weeks later he was found hanging from a stoplight with signs of torture all over his body. He was able to get away with this with ease.
Eventually Aidan was finally found in Britain selling some of his poisoned stash to the locals. This was enough to bring him in for a life sentence due to just the amount of narcotics he had on him. When they got the warrants to search his house they found proof for the other crimes he committed. They found traces of the British, would be, mayor's blood. They found items used to create improvised explosives, multiple unregistered guns, and several items destined for a fence.
Aidan was sent to the prison after a mere thirty minutes at court. He was sent to the cell block that was meant for solitary. On the ride there the guard on the bus remarked, "Once you come here you ain't seeing the outside for a good long time you Irish scum," Aidan spat at him resulting in his first beating. He entered the prison multiple bruises and possibly a few fractures.
Personality: Strong headed, hateful of represser (People from Britain), sympathetic to children, merciful.

Backstory: Damon grew up and lived fairly normally. Never met his father and his mother was too busy to show any real affection. In primary school he was picked on and bullied, treated like dirt. He learned to hate the world and everyone in it. It got messy when he got into secondary school. He managed to get in with the wrong crowd. In year 8 he was allways high and had been in jail so often he would get arrested if he wanted a bed for the night.
Then they decided to 'kick him out' as he saw it. The reason was that, being in year nine, he had stolen one of their consoles and had hid it. Then he got mad. He nearly killed one of them and he stole another console as well as all of their parents jewelry and he got in a fight with them, which he lost. He was now 15 and in year 10, he had been doing weights for some time and was getting pretty fit. He was by far the strongest person in the year and went for 'round 2' with the crowd that kicked him out. They were left bleeding and, in some cases, unconscious. This time the police came again and arrested him for grand theft because of the theft he did two years ago, as well as charging him for assault. He managed to get his sentence down to 10 years and was out at age 25, just a month before his 26th birthday. Damon broke out only to be brought back to a new prison Saxtonvale.

He learned to hate the world and everyone in it. It got messy when he got into secondary school. He managed to get in with the wrong crowd. In year 8 he was allways high and had been in jail so often he would get arrested if he wanted a bed for the night.
Then they decided to 'kick him out' as he saw it. The reason was that, being in year nine, he had stolen one of their consoles and had hid it. Then he got mad. He nearly killed one of them and he stole another console as well as all of their parents jewelry and he got in a fight with them, which he lost. He was now 15 and in year 10, he had been doing weights for some time and was getting pretty fit. He was by far the strongest person in the year and went for 'round 2' with the crowd that kicked him out. They were left bleeding and, in some cases, unconscious. This time the police came again and arrested him for grand theft because of the theft he did two years ago, as well as charging him for assault. He managed to get his sentence down to 10 years and was out at age 25, just a month before his 26th birthday. Backstory: Jonathan Stone was born to a Martha Lee Stone and George Stone. George was a drunkard who constantly beat his son and wife, and Martha to Jonathan was an angel in disguise. Stone went for two years to a school, but then the funds ran out, due to his father wasting huge amounts on beer. Jonathan helped as much as he could at home, but eventually started to avoid it entirely. He instead, was taken under the the wing of Alfonzo Panizi, an Italian Ex-boxer. Panizi trained him how to fight, how to defend himself. But he also taught him self-control. When he reached the age of twenty-one, he enlisted for the army. But before he deployed, he had something he needed to do. He went up to his fathers house, and when he stumbled out to go the bar, Stone shot him. It was an even, wellplaced shot, and George Stone instantly died. Then he deployed. He served bravely, but the law caught up to him. The aftermath of the trial declared Stone “Guilty of murder!” He was then dishonorably discharged from the army, and served in a jail. Though somehow, two murders that were unsolved were placed on Stones shoulders also. His fingerprints were on the murder-weapon, and a witnesne gun. And Stone had carefully hidden it. (( Threw it out the cell window, which s said he saw Stone. Of course, it was fake, Stone had been living with Panizi at the time, but he had no alibi so he was blamed for the two murders also! He took his parents for granted, knowing that they would buy all the groceries and all he'd have to do is a few chores to get something he wanted. Ethan loved hanging out with friends, playing sports and doing outside activities though. He enjoyed getting into mysteries and puzzles and was quite good at solving them. But one day Ethan was strolling along the sidewalk past an alleyway on his way back to his house, when he had a man's scream come from the alleyway. He ran back and saw a man lying in a pool of blood with a knife by his side. At first, Ethan thought the man had committed suicide but out of the corner of his eye, he saw a shadow disappear over the fence. Ethan picked up the knife and examined it until the police arrived and he was sent to prison for murder.
Personality: Most of the time he is pleasant but if he doesn't get his own way or somebody has annoyed him, he can be a horrible person. He has a very short temper.
