I need an upgrade from my 2002 gaming computer (Was worth $3k at the time) and I have decided to limit myself to $1000, even though I would prefer to go cheaper.
Here is my parts list, PLEASE comment freely. I would like to know your opinions!

Case: NZXT Tempest 210
CPU: Intel i5 2500K
Motherboard: ASRock Z77 Extreme3 ATX LGA1155
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaw 8gb (4x2)
Storage: Western Digital 1TB 7200RPM Hard Drive
Graphics Card: Sapphire Radeon HD 7770 1GB
Power Supply: Corsair Builder 500W
Optical Drive: I already have one so thats done

^If anyone can recommend a good SSD that is below $200, please say!^

I am looking to start building at the end of summer.

You really didn't do enough research... for that money you can put in a radeon 7970 a gtx 670 or even gtx 770...
Link: http://pcpartpicker.com/b/Cvd
Change to an i5, maybe change gpu to 7970 get a mobo, Western Digital 1tb HDD for 10$ less. and you got one of the best 1000$ builds possible. What you wrote above is complete crap for the money.

Note: for people witch will argue about the name of the topic. He said he limits himself to 1000$ so don't tell me "that isn't 600$..."

Good place to find cheapest and best parts, and get a ssd ^_^

That's what I used to make this setup. Derp.

Anyway, thank you guys who were actually recommending stuff.

(And btw your right I should get a better gpu I will work on fixing that)

Get Windows 8. While you might not use the Metro start menu, the kernel uses a lot less resources than 7 while gaming and it boots up even faster. All your games will work with it and you'll get better FPS than with 7

You spent more on you CPU than the GPU. You should never do that. I'd say get the 3570K instead of the 2500K and overclock it. As for the GPU I'd say a 7870XT or a 7950.

Looks pretty good to me. I don't see any obvious bottlenecks, though a better GPU wouldn't hurt.

I'd go with the GTX 660ti.

Not only is 8's interface a problem, it's the direction MS is trying to push PCs into. It's undeniable: Windows 8 is a tablet operating system, crunched into a PC. MS even has their own proprietary 'appstore'. They're trying to kill off custom systems, and bring an end to powerusers. If you need more proof, just look at the Xbox one's (now hashed) DRM system.

It'd be better if you sepnt 800$, no SSD (It's not necessary).

And it seems that you don't have a Operating System included in your build.

I already have a copy of Windows 7 but I would be willing to go Windows 8 if its better (so far the reviews ive seen arn't so great) and why shouldn't I get the SSD? I just want to put Windows 7 (or 8) on it along with maybe a couple games (If the SSD can store that much)

So, are you saying just get a better graphics card then SSD? Or wa?

-I noticed I use a lot of parenthesis in my writing xD

What you and many people don't get is you've spent so much money on this computer, But you won't see an FPS of more than about 70. This is because your computer can run mineraft smoothly stating 100FPS or w.e but Your monitor refresh rate is most likely of that of an average computer, So you will only ever see about 70FPS. My opinion you've just wasted a lot of money

After 60FPS you are lagless (Well, in most games) so if you get 60FPS or 150FPS its still going to look the same. I currently get around 20FPS in MW2 but I want a computer that can run Battlefield 3 (And maybe 4) on regular settings with around 60FPS.

I am not looking for a framerate of ultra settings 900FPS, I am just looking to make a computer that can run decent in games. Battlefield will be the most extreme game I play. All other games I play are low end for the most part
