Alienware x51 i7, is it worth it?
Hey guys! I'm asking for your opinion. Is the Alienware x51 i7 worth it? If any of you own it, tell me what games you play on it. If I get the Alienware x51, I would probably play Skyrim, DayZ Standalone, Rust (maybe), Minecraft and Terraria and possibly an FPS (dunno which one). Here is a template for those of you who the computer.
Game Title -- How much FPS you get
Game Title -- How much FPS you get

Thanks! Have a nice day!

Randomness3333 Knows whats up listen to him you buy that computer (either one of the 2) and it's not only cheaper but it will put that Alienware in the f***ing trash and you get to experience building a computer yourself which is an amazing experience

ThatsMyPickaxePokemon8756People say Alienwares are {snip}, but I don't think that, I have a pretty good feeling that it will be able to run all of those with decent fps.
It's not that Alienwares are bad, it's just that they're overpriced. They're good computers, but most of the money spent is on brand and cosmetics.

Alienware itself in my opinion aren't bad in terms of performance. However gets it's hate on the price that Dell sells them for. I for one would never ever buy one, and I should encourage no one else too, unless you literally have money to throw away. Get one built for half the price, with exactly the same specs.

It's really overpriced just build a computer I could set you up with a build if you would like me too.

Asus N56VZ...
Mine runs Planetside 2 on ultra, decent FPS, never gets close to overheating, if you really want a laptop.
But if you don't need a laptop listen to Randomness, he knows this stuff.

Aleinware's are the worst computer manufacturer period. They are overpriced, they use components that don't work together, their motherboards are cheap and break down all the time, they have horrible customer server, and they are owned by Dell. The first 3 weeks will be great, no problems, amazing FPS. Then you'll start to get multiple Blue Screens of Death within a day. It'll most likely become a daily routine just to keep your computer running. They use cheap parts that break easily.
My advice, stay AWAY from Alienware, build your computer. If you're unable to do so (idk why... it's very easy) then get a Lenovo desktop or laptop. You can upgrade the parts (for the most part). Lenovo or Asus is probably your best bet. I'd recommend you get a computer with an AMD CPU, something with 8 cores. Intel CPUs are good for people who render 4k animations, AMD is amazing for the average / hardcore gamer. It'll also keep the price WAY down.

Have fun wasting you money OP. An r9 270 will not hit 60 fps in modern games at max settings at 1080p. Compared to the x51 this build destroys it in gaming for 60$ less.

However for the games that you will be playing a 760 would be fine. here is a non-overclocking build that still beats the x51 in gaming.

HawkstormerAnd what's so bad about a good looking car with an okay engine? If it still can bring me from place to place, I'll take it. Even if it means paying more.
You're missing the point, you don't buy a sports car, for only the looks.... Just like you don't buy a gaming computer, just for facebook.
1
Yeah it's easier to build one than you think...
1
Well, i'd care, paying 1,200 for a computer, that you could easily build for 600, maybe even less?
1
Look, who cares what type of PC you have, as long as it runs games at at least 50-70 FPS smoothly and it's at a good price, then just get it....Also that Linux picture is creepy knowing everything on my PC.
1
I disagree with everything in this post... Would you like to have a computer that gets great FPS at great graphical settings but have to restart the game every 10 minutes because of crashes / blue screens? Would you like it to only last 1 year because the parts don't work together and your Motherboard fries. Would you like your Intel i7 beast to overheat every time you turn it on because the manufacturer negates to put a decent fan in it.
I cringe every time I see some body with a stock cooler and an i7. treat that 300$ beast like a queen and get a decent fan.

That's just you, I've been running fine without a single problem since I've got mine. Hey OP, I'm with you whatever you do. You can build it or buy an Alienware. It's your money, do what you want with it. Just remember that it's not the end of the world if you get an x51. We're all human here and we just want to help you. Do as you wish.
1
Not worth the money. Go out and build a gaming computer and it will be cheaper and can sometimes be better
1
I don't think you understand what I'm saying, you're paying a lot more than what you're gonna get out of it. It's like you're buying a Corvette, but they put a Prius engine in it......Get something worth the price.
1
Everyone who is telling me about the price. Stop. I have enough money to buy an x51. Who here owns an x51?
1
You asked if the computer was worth the money and they said it wasn't because alienwares are way overpriced, why come ask and not take the advice...
1
I do. Alright denizens of the internet, please begin the hate. I seriously don't care.
I have the i5 one and it runs fine. You only need an i7 if you're planning to do 3D Modeling and the like. If you still want to run games really well, I suggest getting the i5 and customizing it to get the 760 for your GPU instead. Getting the i7 for ~$200-$300 more isn't worth it. Just get the i5 with the 760.
Also for all of you who keep pushing him to build one, just say it once. You don't need to enforce your thoughts on the OP. Let him do what he wants, he's just asking about the computer itself. It's his computer, not yours. And what's so bad about a good looking car with an okay engine? If it still can bring me from place to place, I'll take it. Even if it means paying more.

The newest x51 with an i7 has a Radeon 270, and they want 1,200 for it......Now, that sounds a little over priced for a 270...
1
Which video card does it have? I know for a fact it will run all these on high/ultra at good frames, but why spend $2000 on a computer, that you can pay 1000 for the same exact thing? It will just look different?
