This huge steam sale is going on for almost every game (or so it seems), and if you were to pick between the two, which is better? I'm looking for answers from people who have played both.

Definitely 2. Playing brotherhood won't make any sense if you haven't played 2.

I would recommend the Ezio trilogy. You get II, brotherhood, and revelations.

get Assassin's creed 2 first. Brotherhood is the sequel so if you could, get both

Assassin's Creed 2 is easily the best game in the entire Assassin's Creed series, hands down.
