Hi,
This is my second try, as my first build was AMD and I slowly was shifting my mindset back to Intel, like I had first been planning. Anyway, I am from Canada and my budget is around $1000. But I would like to keep it low because shipping and taxes will bring it higher than I would like. I am planning to use this to record playing all of the next gen games such as Far Cry 4, GTA V, Assassins Creed Unity, ECT. As well as record games like minecraft with shaders, garrysmod, counterstrike, ect. I will be editing and rendering these too.
I want to go all out with the video card, but I am unsure if a i5 processor will bottleneck with the GTX 970, and if the i5 will be able to handle recording/editing/rendering or if I should wait some time for a sale and get a i7?
Or if you have a suggestion to cut down the price without cutting down the power, feel free.

Here it is:

I recently found someone selling an intel xeon x5667 (4 of them) for $100 each. I don't know much about using server processors for normal or anything about xeon, but do you think this would work well in a build with a 970 if I put a cooler on the xeon? Thanks and sorry again for bringing this topic back up.

That's a 4 year old processor and finding a motherboard for that wouldn't be as easy.

Well, what all are you doing with the CPU? The i5 would be good enough for everything, but the i7 really comes into play when you are rendering videos non stop pretty much. (Only cuts back the time by a little bit, the i5 will already do it pretty fast honestly)

Hey everyone, sorry to bring this topic back up again, but I am wondering for my build, whether I should go with a i5, or a i7 processor? I am still planning on purchasing the GTX 970 but I need to decide on the processor first.
Thanks

No, those were separate questions. I mean like they have 120gb SSD- 2tb 7200rpm and i7 4770 aswell as the other parts for cheap.

Do I want for sure a 80+ Gold with around 600watts? Not sure what I would need.

Thanks everyone, again.
However, I have a few more questions for all of you-
What kind of powersupply do I need? I am planning on going with more than I need (600-650) just in case I decide to upgrade it later, but I have no idea what I want. I don't want to cheap out and risk damages.
Is it BAD to buy used parts from previous builds? I found someone selling a PC they bought 6 months ago and it is a good build, and good price, so I wanted to buy it and use some of the parts from it. Will the power of the processor, for example be lacking a lot, or should I just buy new?

I wouldn't go with a second hand power supply. If it was something rated 80+ gold and from Corsair, Seasonic, XFX, or EVGA then I might consider it. You don't want to cheap out on one of the most vital parts of your build.

My favorite pc is the yoga 3 pro. It's a slightly more expensive competitor to the macbook air, but it's a lot faster, more functional, more durable, lighter, thinner, etc.
The downside is the battery life. It is the first device to feature Intel's new m core.

Not having an SSD for games and normal stuff you will be loading won't be a problem. I use an HDD for my games and I am all set. That being said I do use an SSD for my windows, and as a result my computer boots up in about 6 seconds, versus 20+ if you only used an HDD

I have the i5-4690 and the gtx 970 and I can squeeze out a good 1500 fps from mc. On max settings and ultra SEUS shaders, I get about 200 fps, mostly because my gpu isnt very compatible with shaders for some reason. When I use a shader that is better compatible, I get about 400+ fps. And also by the time you get the parts, there will probably be a new graphics driver and/or release of SEUS that will better work with the gpu.

The 4790 won't really be worth it to you. The i5's are the best for gaming right now, and for recording. The nVidia card has shadowplay, which is a free screen recorder that is built into the video card, which when you use it you don't drop but maybe 3 fps on a bad day. Takes most of the load off the cpu and puts it on the gpu.

And the only way the i7 would benefit you, is if you're rendering hour long videos 2-3 times a day, which no person does. And it'd only cut back on the time by a few minutes. Honestly not worth it right now, wait till broadwell comes out, then you can get an i7 if you really want it.

So far the biggest problem is that you don't have an SSD, that will mean crappy loading times.

The processor isn't great, not top of the line in any way. I cannot honestly recommend nvidia graphics, the Radeon R9 is far superior.

If you will be doing multi-core tasks such as rendering, file processing etc. You should get an intel i7 5820K, its a six core CPU with 12 threads, a very nice buy; that changes the mobo requirements tho. If you do get it, overclock it.
