Hello my name is Jacob, and today I will be asking the question. Is 4K practical for the normal consumer? Today's questions are
1. Can you tell the difference?
2. How much will you have to spend on a PC that is capable of running 4K.

Can you tell the difference?
The norm of 2015, is 1080P. 4K is over 8 million pixels, that's four times more then that 1080P monitor you're looking at now. Do these pixels matter? Yes very much. The good guys at http://www.techradar.com , did an experiment where they sat 10 people down with an video at 1080P, then did the same at 4K (It was the same video). 65% of them could tell the difference. That's not exactly "Hard Facts" but I think we can say. You can tell the difference.

How much will you have to spend on a PC that is capable of running 4K.

Well Rockstar kind of answered this question for us. The guys at http://www.pcgamer.com posted an article that contained this quote from Rockstar. "To run the game on a 4K display at 30fps," says Hoare, "you’ll need at minimum an AMD HD 7870 or Nvidia GTX 760 with 2GB of VRAM." As for the 4K at 60 frames-per-second, that will require a "high-end SLI or Crossfire setup." While I can't directly confirm this quote, it does seem right. So in order to run games like GTA V in 4k, you will need a High End SLI or Crossfire, that means you will have to spend a couple "K" on you're PC.

Conclusion
"Is 4K Gaming Pratical?" No, but it is cool.
While I personally think 4K is worth it, it's really all up to the consumer. So tell me what you guys think.

I don't think it's worth putting so much money into 1) The PC Build and 2) The actual 4K Monitor.

I also find it incredibly stupid that LG revealed an 8K TV at CES 2015. Especially since it's a TV and you won't see much of a difference at a longer range...

Yes, it is. If you're GPU can hold up then why are you not using 4k?

Why wouldn't you get a 8K TV? It's better than an older TV. I've seen them at Frys, they're BEAUTIFUL

Depending on the game, you won't need to spend over $1000. (source)

Nothing will hold back progress and nothing should hold back progress. 4K is just the next step until 5k (which exists) 8k (which also exists) eventually up to 16k and beyond.

Right now it might not be practical, but in, let's say, 5 years, 4k may be the current standard like 1080p is now.

Also, have you ever looked at a game in 4k 60fps? It is GLORIOUS

Trust me, once you start using 4K you will never go back.
