Alienware: Bad Choice way too overpriced
Mac: no , just no
i have an HP Pavilion g6 and it works really well, i really recommend just using a desktop, laptops are annoying, the hp pavillion g6 can even run crysis 3 thats pretty good, and it can run your schoolwork well too. >_< point is thats a good computer if you get it you should upgrade the ram and if you want to linux is good to use.

I have the same laptop and have been running for nearly 4 years with no problems other than the fact that I deleted a partition off my os

Charlizardwww.novatech.co.uk/laptop/range/novatecheliten1549.htmlThat laptop is pimpin`! I might buy a Intel I5 3230M Dual Core 2.6Ghz 3MB Processor with NVIDIA GT650M 2GB Graphics for £669.98 . Is that good?
If you're in the UK, Novatech is a good way to go.
A very powerful laptop for a reasonable price. There's a few higher priced ones there, too.
I got my PC from Novatech and it was cheap for what it has and is amazing. They're also very customer friendly and helpful.

NOT HP. Get an Asus Republic of Gamers laptop. Also, you can't build a laptop. You can build a desktop.

I see you can buy an alienware n14x for around $1200
1
Are you Crazy? U cant even buy a low-level android if you only have that much!

100 pc's is actually 100 pieces. I don't know what's wrong with his head giving you a link to a puzzle rather than a pc =='

Look at the Maingear Nomad series, they look pretty promising

Alienware is AWESOME, i will buy it as soon as i can, also Acer is really good too. My bro has one and it is really fast. Toshiba is good also, because it is Japan. But I dont prefer Toshiba if you can buy Alienware or Acer

I have heard Hp Pavilion and Alienware are good.

Hello, just warning you about lenovo, i have seen people buy the lenovo Ideapad Y series and go crazy to get them, but i have seen they can be a mistake. After a few months a friends failed, slowed, and the touch pad wouldent work, and the battery life is low you only get 2 to 3 hours out of it, which is terrible. But i'v also seen them last a long time and work great, but thats what i have seen, hopefully you can find a great computer.
By the way, look at Maingear, they seem awsome.

The specs on the laptop seem very good and Acer is a fairly good brand but I'm not too sure about windows 8. Can't really say much about the OS as I have never used windows 8 but I think it is more app orientated with the new home screen but other than that I'm completely useless with it.
Edit: I looked at the specs again and the battery life is very short. it lasts 2 and a half hours according to the listed specs. otherwise the laptop is very good

Did you not see it's Win8? Plus for newer games like BF4, you'd want to upgrade the processor to something more than quad-core.

I would get mac but not flexible enough in other things
1
Firstly I would Buy a Mac Pro or The New iMac Then I wold buy this http://steelseries.com/products/keyboar ... g-keyboard And this together would be already the best for gaming! In my opinion and it would be a good combination so yeah!
Hope I helped a Bit!

This depends alot on which country you live in.
For instance, I just bought my new laptop for somewhere around 1200 Euros.. Yeah, I know that's alot more than your budget but for such gear I found it pretty reasonable. I put it together through a service called Multicom which gave me excactly what I wanted. Unfortunately, this company only delivers computers in my country.
If you still wan't to have a look at what I bought, search for Clevo 157SM on google or whatever, pick the link from notebookcheck and there you go.
I strongly suggest erasing that "HP Pavilion" comment. That were my last computer, the G6 - To make it short I do not recommend it.

Alienware. Nothing else to say xD

Would not recommend Alienware. Would definitely not recommend HP (I suspect trolling to who did). It will be difficult to find a gaming laptop to fit your $1200-1300 budget considering Win8 is now pushed to all Windows laptops/PCs, everything gets a Blu-Ray player, and some builds even have SSD installed. You'll want an i7 processor (or whatever the AMD equivalent is) and a GeForce 670M or higher inside. Never get Toshiba -- EVER. I like to go through ASUS
Check out NewEgg or TigerDirect. Might find what you're looking for on either of those sites.

Alienware laptops are not bad though pc is much better for gaming
1
How would i do that?
1
PC part picker bro, choose the best parts then work your your way down to your budget, then put it together.
