Starting to play ac from the third game

so I've always been interested in assassin's creed but i've never played any of the games. Just recently i bought ac 3 and my friends all say that im dumb for starting a series from the third edition. i just wanted people's opinion on if it's ok to start from ac 3.

Well... there are some things u might want to know from the other games but u dont need to know although personaly i think u should start from the first one in any game series

Well, it starts the story of a new character, so you shouldn't need any prior knowledge of the assassins creed series to play it. The previous assassins creed games are very good, so I would recommend that you play those as well.
