The build looks virtually perfect. However, with that 290, I'd get a 1440p monitor (which is $100 out-of-budget).

It's up to you if you want to spend an extra 100.

Updated with crazyeagle's list, and the cheaper card. The case is my dream case, I am set on that one case and I'm not getting any other. Thanks anyways. http://pcpartpicker.com/user/Fudgiedillol/saved/zkZQzy

I prefer the extra headroom that 16 GB of RAM provides. I'm running Chrome, Skype, the Steam client, iTunes, and Minecraft (using ~1 GB of its maximum of 2 GB), and my computer's using 6.6 GB of memory.

If you don't think you want that headroom, stick with 8 GB. Otherwise I suggest 16 GB.

Honestly, you don't *really* need headroom with RAM, unused RAM, is useless RAM. If you're using 98% of your RAM, and that's the most you ever use, you're fine.

However, I'm not saying 16 GB is too much at all, it's exactly what I have. It's great for playing with RAM disks, hosting servers for friends and the easily thrown around term "futureproofing"

So really, if you don't think you need 16 GB of RAM, you probably don't. However, a pack of 16 GB is usually cheaper than two 8 GB packs sold separately, and if you do feel the need to upgrade, you won't have worry about your RAM not being factory matched.

All in all, 8 GB should be fine, but 16 isn't totally unreasonable.

I made some suggestions. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/sBk6pg

Mobo: You dont need a z87 chipset with locked cpu and it would be better to get a z97 chipset with the i5-4690 (haswell refresh) anyway. I would suggest this h97 board though. It should offer almost all the features of the z87 board minus overclocking for a lower price.
Ram: Basically the same ram for a few dollars cheaper
GPU: i would also consider a cheaper r9 290. The windforce card is a good deal but its slightly slower than the one you had. However, this card is faster and much cheaper http://pcpartpicker.com/part/powercolor ... 4gbd5ppdhe but im not as familiar with the brand.
I left the case alone but you could save $20 buy getting the plain black version.

I'd still not even get that small of one, I mean, it's not small, but you've got a 290, i'd go with a little bit higher one.

Changed it to fit most people's needs (smaller storage, better motherboard), but I have put almost a half a year of consideration for all of the parts of this build, and I think it is better for me to have a the 21.5 inch monitor, mostly due to my small desk, but also because I don't exactly NEED that big of a monitor (in reply to Killertoad), and, my budget IS big, but I hardly am able to get ahold of that money.

Could get cheaper ram, and I'd get a 1TB HDD and a 64-256GB SSD for your OS and some games.

Also, you can get a bigger monitor for that price, 21 seems a bit small if you're gonna go all out, and get that high end of a computer.

OP, I'd suggest a small (128 GB or so) SSD to go with that build (it'll make bootup times, overall loading times and program start-up times faster. Also, you went with a really cheap motherboard for a build that expensive. My advise is to NOT cheap out on the motherboard, as it's the backbone of the entire PC.

This computer has incredible storage but only 8gb RAM. If you are a semi hard core gamer, that would be great. If you are an EXTREME gamer, 16gb - 32gb would be best.

You have no idea what you're talking about. Having more than 8 GB doesn't make you an "extreme gamer". In fact it's unnecessary. More than 8 GB is not needed for most people. Most people allocate .5 - 1 GB of RAM to Minecraft... very few (if any) games need more than 8 GB of RAM. The only reason I could think of for 16 or more GB is if you do hardcore video editing or use CAD, Rivet, etc. The storage isn't "incredible", either. It's a 2 TB HDD, nothing special.

8GB is fine. You will barely need 16GB unless you do a lot of multitasking, and you will almost never need 32GB unless you virtualise a lot.

On the subject, that PC is amazing.

U dont need 16 GB of RAM to be a "extreme" gamer and it doesn't not help at all unless u r hosting a server.
