So hey there everyone, I am new to PMC but I am not new to minecraft and gaming..
Not so long ago (sounds like the beginning of a dank adventure) I was helped with a computer build (Build can be seen here: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/MRFz3C some parts I bought off a mate (GPU and PSU). But since I can't OC on the H97 board I was quite upset but I moved on in life, I can play a decent amount of games but not ones which I want to play..

What do I want to do?
Well you see.. I want to be able to play new games but i'm not sure where or not I should OC ( Which I have never done before ) or upgrade to a better CPU...

1. Buy a new motherboard on which I can OC and buy a new GPU (to be under £350 for both parts)

2. Buy a new CPU and possibly a motherboard ( I was thinking about getting an i5-4690k which I can OC later for future proofing myself..)

So.. PC experts who can help me.. what option should I choose? Or if you have another option I'd be happy to look it over!

My budget is around £300-£350 ( no more than £350 )

RushTheSiteNice, thanks for the help! I've dabbed in PC builds but I'm not the best.. I don't really think I will need an i7 since all I want to do is game with at least 60fps at 1080p (High - ultra).. So maybe the 4690k would be good for that and I could even get an aftermarket cooler and mobo which supports OC?

If you're swapping out the CPU and motherboard, why stay on Haswell?

CaptainMuricaYou should be able to overclock the Pentium on that board (lots of manufacturers allow overclocking the G3258 on non-Z series boards), but since you want to upgrade something, you're best off replacing that CPU with something like a 4790 or 4790K.

You can also (fairly easily) afford jumping to the Skylake platform. A 6700 + decent H170 motherboard will run you less than £300. I'd opt for a 6700K + Z170, but the 6700K alone is almost £340.

CPU: Intel Core i7-6700 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor (£209.00 @ Amazon UK)
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-H170-HD3 DDR3 ATX LGA1151 Motherboard (£65.00 @ Dabs)
Total: £274.00

If you don't think you'll need an i7, you could always pick up an unlocked i5 and overclock it:
