Why can't my computer handle Minecraft like it used to.
I am a Minecraft Youtuber so good FPS is important. Around a year ago when I recorded I got around 60FPS but now when I record I get 30FPS solid. I use fraps.

Do you have a graphics card?
Maybe the fans are clogged with dust? If you haven't cleaned out the fans they might be restricting airflow.

All great advice, but my first guess wouldn't be so much your computer as just the game itself. Over it's development, minecraft has gotten slower and slower. I used to have 70-80 fps easily in 1.2/1.3, now it's down to ~30 unless I run optifine
Shouldn't be a hardware problem. Do some spring cleaning on the hard drive.
There must be junkyard like registry cleaners and suff running on your background on your computer thats slowing it down. Remove some of the junk on the computer. Or it my be a virus as well. Or adware. Just do some spring cleaning
What graphics card do you have?
Maybe it is bloteware. Try uninstalling software that isn't important, is useless, and you don't use often.
