Today i was at a electronics store i happend to find a pretty decent laptop for 400$ nothing wrong here but right beside it was a skimpy little notebook for 800$ so i thought to myself why would you pay 800$ for a little thing rather than paying half price for a laptop?

Its harder to make something smaller. So when you try to cram all the stuff that's in a big desktop into a small laptop, it requires more engineering thus making it more expensive.
So really when you think about it, the cost of buying a monitor, keyboard, and mouse really doesn't matter.

Yepp. They have to cram about the same amount of technology into a smaller space. It's why Desktops are cheaper than laptops, when they have about the same specs.
Actually, no. The laptops cost more because it's transportable, and you don't have to buy a monitor, mouse, and keyboard.
Actually, no. That stuff costs very little - And is usually added into the cost, anyways.

That's what i meant, it makes the price of desktop more. Most monitors are 500-1000, but if you go cheap, 100, then it doesn't add too much.

It's because of the logic of computers, when it has smaller parts, it costs more. Stupidest reason, but it is why. Yeah, with 800 you could build a awesome desktop. Having 30 times more performance, it probably runs minecraft at like 4 frames with optifine :l

(it says notebook not netbook guys)

Because its smaller and the parts are harder to make.

$800, really? that's insane and I partially don't believe that they were honestly genuinely selling an old skimpy notepad for twice the amount of a decent laptop. So if that is true they probably did it for a joke or something. (lol really I have no idea)
