What About Bob? is the movie. It's extremely funny.
Full Metal Jacket (1987)
Stirring film about the Vietnam War, and the effect it had on the troops.
Great movie, I'd strongly recommend watching it, although avoid it if you're squeamish or easily disturbed. xD

I think that's a good list to start with. Not sure if you're into Dragons or any form of Anime. I don't really like Anime but I love ANYTHING Hayao Myazaki has done.
