Hello! Jedi here.
So today I plan to start up my game making career again. I am making a survival, open world, MMO/Single player, First person shooter game. I have very limited equipment for the creation(9 year old PC and a 6 year old TV on a guitar stand). The purpose of this game is to make a game with good singleplayer, with a side goal to make enough money to buy a custom gaming computer at around $1300.
So what features would you enjoy in a FPS game? The current features: Shooting, basic movement(walking, sprinting, strafing, crouching, lying down, etc.), and a Massive island world design. I have plans to add custom creation using blocks and other voxel's to allow creation of custom aircraft, cars, tanks, and bases (kinda like robocraft but with first person shooting and survival).

It's not bad that I like CoD. I prefer having 60fps on my PS3 than having Battlefield take ten years to catch up.

Good hit detection too.

1. Vehicle Customisation
2. Great Storyline
3. Competitive Tournaments

Make a heck ton (and interesting) alien creatures you have to fight, so the players always sees a new creature at the nex turn.
Also, maybe you could make it so that other people could create creatures that spawned in other's worlds.
I'ma Spore fan

My favorite first person shooter atm is Insurgency.
My favorite open world shooter is (or, rather it will be) Rust experimental branch.
As far as individual features, I think an extremely important thing is free aim (where when you move the mouse, the gun will move across the screen before you actually start rotating the view). It just adds to the experience tbh.
And I agree, money shouldn't be a major incentive to make the game, especially since you're making it on a tv on a guitar stand.

Then my computer decided to crash creating another 9000+

SBSolarI have always like FPS's where the maps aren't boring.
Like little hidden things and drivable vehicles and such.
And make it so its NOT a copy of like CoD or no one would buy it.
ORLY?

Just sayin'.

Is there even a point of creating a game like that? I mean, there are a lot of them and beacuse of that it won`t be very original or popular. Just my opinion.
1
Make it so you have a big variety of choices unlike some games there is one way to complete the game make it so there are multiple choices and multiple endings and whatever to go with the choice you make.

errorknOfficial-jedimartinThe game will have a jobs system, you can be a cop, fireman, clerk, etc. that is one of 5 ways you make money. The dark story plot is being changed to be alot lighter. It has to do with crime, not other military's.
So like Grand Theft Auto, except...
AN FPS
Much amaze Very wow Hope you do well making it.

Any screenshots?

I can take some real quick.

Give it a twist ending like the bad guy being your boss and it was all a test.
Oh and your boss is Weird Al Yankovic.

why not develop the game for a while then open a kickstarter to help you continue this project and gain a wider audience.

Realistic water and weather, destructible buildings, high quality textures, good skybox, and custom models and animations (not ripped from other games).
1
Realistic water costs $1000 (unity 3D free does not allow creation of water). the weather is already underway, the destructable buildings work at this point in time, the textures won't run on my computer(derp), I make about half my models, the ones I don't make are not used in other games.
*Edit
I use a very high quality skybox.

Official-jedimartinFind Them CreepersNo call of duty story either, examples being this:
China somehow starts some kind of war
America wins somehow
Russia somehow starts some kind of war
American wins somehow
Everyone is against America in a war
America wins somehow
^
Almost every FPS ever made, ever
Mhm. Your very right. America vs. THE WORLD = earth destroyed, human population: 1. My game has a dark underlying plot that threatens half of all humans.
Sounds interesting.

The money thing is really the first goal to success. Without a good computer I can't make a good game. Its not the main goal but it is a goal.
1
You should start the game before thinking about that, otherwise it's destined to fail

Ez Money Ez Lyfe Steps:
1.) Make a game that's the opposite of BF4
2.) Remember to make it so that it doesn't crash everytime you want to start a new game / match
3.) $$$

A game that isn't a cash in....

1 Thing really:
A GOOD STORY
Most modern shooter games have horrible stories so if you are making one please make a deep plot with interesting characters.

Thats a very huge thing! I have been writing story for 18 months in my head, the characters are very well explored with a past and personality. However cutscenes are out of the question for a while.
1
Also making a video of my game with this computer is almost impossible, so alot of game stores won't let me sell it.
1
Actually this game has been in progress for 2 years, my computer has been not working for a long time. I am not doing this for just the money, I am doing it to make a shooter game where the single player is actually fun. I am building it with the unity 3D game engine. Once I reach the goal for money I will be continuing development and taking the graphics into the 21st century, something my computer doesn't understand.

dorro123RawwkOfficial-jedimartinThe purpose of this game is to make enough money to buy a custom gaming computer at around $1300.
...
honestly if you just want money out of it, you're probably going to throw away the project after you get it.
I agree with you here.
And your ideas seem WAY too far away from your equipment and funding. Your ideas are nice and everything, but really they're just that: ideas.

I've always preferred the sort of Quake / Unreal Tournament feel to an FPS rather than what we get today.

Unique mechanics

I like the idea of customising vehicles. Other than that I wish you good luck.
PS. What engine are you using to create this?
