I actually just tried deleting the pack from resource packs and re-copying the original files into resource pack and now it works fine

interesting.

That's not a great solution for me, because the texture pack in question is my own. It all worked fine until I added the cactus texture, and now everything is making it crash. I might just delete .minecraft because any solution is better than not using my own pack

Try backing up your .jar, relaunching Minecraft, changing your texture pack, closing Minecraft and switching the new jar back to the one with shaders

No. Deleting the .minecraft folder always results in a lot of data being lost, but only occasionally solves the problem. In this case, it would not solve the problem, as the problem does not revolve around the mods, but around the texture pack.

Go into the options.txt in the .minecraft folder, and under the "resource-packs" field (something like that), replace the texture pack name (quotes and all) with a pair of brackets. Doing this manually resets the selected texture pack to the default one.

Example:

resource-packs: "oCd"
changes to

resource-packs: []

To prevent this from happening again: don't use that texture pack.

Source: I had issues with a 256x "Block-ception" pack, which crashed my client running on an i7 paired with a GTX 660, with 2 GB of RAM allocated to Minecraft.
