How do I set up a map to be playable?
Do I just go to the spawn and change to adventure mode, or do I have to do something else?

Yes you are correct, just go to the spot you want them to spawn in, and change to adventure mode then leave the world and put it up for download!
your gonna need to elaborate on what you mean by "playable". it really depends on what kind of map it is
Its an adventure map. I created it in creative and now I want to upload it but I want to know how to make a player spawn in the right place and in adventure mode.
well simplest way is to set the spawn in go to the exact block where you want the spawn to be and then type /spawnpoint or spawn or something just google the command
