(FIXED) I changed my name and my server didn't recognise that I had changed my name and thought I was a new player
So, I was thinking of changing my mc name to something different and I did, but my server didn't recognise that I changed my name, and said that I was a new player, and all of my skyblock things weren't working. Is there a plugin to fix it? Or is there any other way? FIXED, DO NOT WORRY.

It also doesn't show my skin.

that shouldn't have happened, servers tie a UUID to a player, not a playername and have done for like the past 3 ish years
reboot client, reboot server, give it some time for your name to update and try again

With modern versions this shouldn't happen but if you play with an older Minecraft version then this is definitely an issue and unfortunately there isn't much you can do there other than contacting the server staff or better: sticking to modern Minecraft versions.

My server has 1.11.2

so should I upgrade it to 1.13 or something?

Trying 1.12.2 might be safest for now. There are still a lot of problems with 1.13 in combination with mods, and 1.12.2 has been around for quite some time now.
Just make sure that you grab the right (updated) versions for both your server and the mods its using.

huh... so I made a new server with the same version (1.11.2) and everything and my skin showed up so
that is wierd..
that is wierd..

If the server is in offline mode this can happen as UUID's are randomly assigned and not linked to the player unlike online mode. If its online mode, maybe the plugin that handles the joining/players is not setup to work with UUID's and rather with usernames instead.

does changing it to online mode fix it?

oh my gosh, just tried it out and it DOES work now. Thank you so much!
