I dont know, i think its for 1.14.x.
In 1.8.x there was a other structure in the minecraft directory.
I know only the hierarchy for linux, because i play only there.
In 1.8.x it should be in a folder named objects in your mc directory.

just turn off hostile creature sounds.

I mean he requested only one mob to be turned down, and not off. I've suggested the perfect thing for him above.

I don't really see the point of muting any hostile mob. It's just asking to get ambushed.

Or maybe that's the point. Imagine you're on a server and hostile mobs are muted. Would give players a bit of a challenge.
