Minecraft is working perfect for me on Windows 8. It did not at first. But i just upgraded my drivers and it worked again. Try installing the drivers that are compatible for Windows 8 and your System. Then start minecraft again.
Hope this helps.

CinemaFUCK!! This card doesnt support A windows 8! Come on!!
Why in the world would you upgrade to Windows 8?
Now anyway here's the problem, you upgraded so the Windows 8 drivers are different to Windows 7/Vista i'm pretty sure (I don't use Windows 8 so idk for sure)
When you upgraded, your video cards driver wasn't upgraded or was skipped
I think you might of already figured that out
I went on visiontek's driver page and only found pages for XP/Vista/7
You could try installing 7 drivers to 8, it could work
If it doesn't, DOWNGRADE
Hope it works out

IF YOU HAVE AN NVIDIA GRAPHICS CARD:
1. visit this site http://www.nvidia.com/Download/Scan.aspx (it will ask you to use java allow it, and itll scan your computer for nvidia cards)
2. if that fails go here: http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us and choose the card you have and click download.
IF YOU DONT HAVE NVIDIA
Else go to your graphics card website and download the drivers.
