Ok, so heres my predicament. Im making a adventure map and i need to know how to make it where they can toss an item into a hopper an activate a machine, but i want a specific item so they dont cheat and throw in some dirt.So how do i make it put off a signal?

use a item sorter, look it up, there are many different design for it, use the one you find you like best, to make it out put a signal, make the item sorter lead to a chest with a comparator next to it
