Kabewm!

Far too often, I see servers ready to do a complete refresh (much to the distaste of the players), but it is not really that 'fun'... You get kicked from the server, log on the next day and you're presented with a bleak, barren landscape- admittedly, it's a great canvas for rebuilding that huge castle you spent 6 months on, but you can't help but miss out on watching it all go away.

So, I've got an idea. When servers have a complete wipe, instead of just deleting the world it would be much more fun (and luring to new players) to let participants actually take part in the destruction of the world. The best way to do this, obviously, would be to take away all protections on the world (excluding the spawn area, maybe), allow players to fly, and only let them use TNT and flint and steel.

All that you need to do now is sit back, enjoy the view, and watch all of the server's players happily wreak havoc on that PvP base they've been trying to get into, or that huge castle that took too long to build but is now destroyed.

Also, instead of just deleting the world, it would be ingenious to spare players the pain of having their work deleted and instead make the world (both before and after destruction) downloadable through an online service such as MediaFire or Dropbox.

So, what do you think? Comment your thoughts below!

If minecraft worlds where backed up to a dedicated cloud server it would be fine, somebody should make a plugin for that, so minecraft can automatically backup to a cloud server as currently they are VERY reliable.

I can not stress the fact that this is no new way of doing things, I used to do it all the time until I started to hate multiplayer. I stopped running servers and I just gave up on that aspect.

Same with myself. I've ran probably 20 different servers and all of them I've discontinued mainly from updates in Minecraft making it physical work to keep up...

The reason why they restart servers is so that it won't get laggy. Also the TNT will make the server crash..... But it will still be cool

For someone who adores mass destruction I love this idea, the idea of making use of Dropbox is ingenious too. I'm sitting here scratching my head wondering why I didn't think of this! As soon as my server gets on its feet I'm definitely incorporating this idea.

An anarchy day can be fun, but good servers don't just up and lose all your hard work.

I am dealing with a map reset right now after 8 months XD. I plan to copy buildings over to the new world for people for 1 week before the old worlds deleted.

A private bukkit server? Or one that's hosted publicly?

On the server I admin, the staff and I take our time when making a new world. If we like your build or you have a massive beautiful building. We will MCEdit (Import) it into our new world.

I played on a server that did that... it was really fun considering that I'm that weird girl who likes to destroy anything in her way...

I think that ur idea is one of the best xD
