Anyone know how the to get my game to stop doing this? I have to cycle my smooth lighting ALL THE TIME.

This just happens when a chunk doesn't load correctly for whatever reason. I don't think there's a way to stop it from happening, but you can make the chunk load if you break or place a block in the affected area.

Could you please post a screenshot of your in-game F3 debug screen so we can see your settings and specs?

Wow that's impressive, no clue how to fix it though, it doesn't happen to me. if you have mods or messed with the game in any other way, maybe revert back to plain vanilla mc.
