Hi, I've been searching all over for a fix to this. I've been on a vanilla SMP server and suddenly I can't join it anymore with the error "Unknown Host" or "Can't resolve hostname".

The owners of the server had been saying they were getting a new "node" for increasing the performance, but they said the ip would not change. I'm not sure if they made a mistake and the ip did change or if my minecraft is just being screwy. I tried doing all the DNS settings and following youtube videos, but all that ended up doing is making all my other servers have unknown host names as well, so I had to revert.

I'm typing in the ip correctly for sure, I tried using cmd to look up the true ip (since it's an ip with words, not numbers) and that ip didn't work. I tried adding the port after both versions and it was still a no-go.

The main reason I'm confused is the server pages say that the server is up and running with 6 or so people on it, but the ip on the server pages doesn't work.

Someone please help? Is the server lost forever to me since I have no way to contact anyone in it to get a new ip or is my minecraft/internet simply refusing to allow me to play?

(or am i just really dumb and this is a thing that happens when people get new nodes)

edit: server just randomly said it was on 1.7.9, so I switched my minecraft to that version and it said 0/100 people, then 1/100. I tried to join and minecraft crashed, dunno how to read errors so this is what i got if any of you are good at that:
