I don't recommend using aternos for plugins use minehut.com it has more plugins like towny

There's a million tutorials and guides on server set up and anything else you need on youtube. Trying searching and looking for what you need instead of asking a really vague question.

I can totally help with that much information. All you need to do is install spigot or something and boom you can now install plugins from aterno's plugin list

I’m looking for plugins to help with management of the server and to stop griefers and stuff, iv never owned a server before so not sure how to do it or how to configure them properly

To protect stuff you need one of these plugins:
World Guard and World Edit (Core Protect Recommend)
Red Protect and World Edit
