I like the fact that there are new textures, but I think some of the new ones could use a bit of work before being finalized.

Well, I'll miss the classic ore textures, but these new ones will grow on me. I totally understand why they changed them.
The redstone is a bit droopy though.

I like redstone, gold and coal, but iron still doesn't look like real iron
and what about diamond, emerald, lapis, no changes ?

the changes to ores were to make them unique, so lapis and emerald were left out
and in the notes or a tweet it was said they kept diamond the same as it is iconic, and is the only one with it, so it is unique
