'Adventure Mode' killed?
I was making a zombie fighting adventure map when a rather obvious fact hit me; players can break torches. Then I realized players can also break glass and small things such as flower pots. Not really a big deal I guess, I remodeled the map so torches now lie behind iron bars and I replaced all glass with other blocks. Still, now I have to worry about players accidentally breaking all of the small details I put in like potted trees. About a day of working later, I finished reworking the map when I realized something else; zombies sometimes drop the tools neccessary for breaking virtually everything (shovels, pickaxes). Back in 1.3, this wasn't a problem. I don't understand what anyone gained from these new additions to Adventure Mode. People use adventure mode to make awesome maps (ex: Herobrines Mansion), not to break stuff with the proper tools. If you wanted to let people break stuff, why not use survival mode, no ones going to break obsidian with there hand either way... In my opinion, mojang broke Adventure Mode. Please leave your opinion below. Maybe we can even get them to give back the old version of Adventure Mode.

mabey you should PM hypixel not sure if he will respond but try it anyway
Yeah, it seems like a lot of the things i've been noticing should affect his maps. I doubt he would have time to respond though he is probably really busy
Koffee7jpeanut78985Koffee7Jppeanut, can't you just use command blocks to give people xp?
Below the ground, you can have a clock or a spawner that spawns a villager every so and then, then they fall onto a pressure plate activating the command block. Then a different spawner that instant kill the villager.
I solved the xp problem earlier but, the point of the map is to kill zombies and have them drop xp for you to us to advance in the game. If you got xp automatically there wouldn't really be a point to the map. Actually though, I fixed all of th problems using mcedit and I am releasing the map wednesday.

Cool, mind if I try it out?
^forgot about the whole scoreboard system. You can use that to count how many kills they have got, and use the points for currency.
Use /gamerule mobLoot false to stop zombies dropping things.
As for the issue of little things being broken, all I know is that glass panes are only breakable with a sword, and you can use /gamerule TileDrops false.

i fell a little behind with making the map so it isn't out yet lol sry, I will send you the link when it is out
Just use custom spawners with NBT Editing to make the dropchance of the tools 0
If that doesn't work, maybe give them an item FIRST and then set that to 0 so they don't drop any items?
If you don't know how to use NBT Editing, download an NBT Editor, and then edit the Zombies dropchance from 0.085 to 0

Thanks fr telling me about NBT, i'll try that.
you can use gamerule commands to prevent mob drops.
It uses xp as a currency to buy swords which is why this doesn't work
one thing you can do, is use NBTedit or MCedit to make custom spawners to limit the drops.
I have mcedit but I never customized mob spawners. Can u tell me how to chnage the mob drops
Here's a nifty solution for torches.
A. Make it always day, spawn zombies outside with pumpkins on their heads.
B. Place the torches out of reach or high up
C. Use glowstone or Redstone Lamps.

It is always day on my map because it is indoors so that way zombies only spawn in the actual fighting area. I can't use lamps/glowstone because I need dim lighting that only redstone torches give. (I do not have this problem anymore though I put them behind iron bars). My only remaining problems are with flower pots which I was using to give the map extra detail and glass. Besides that it is just the fact that I am annoyed that we have to do stuff like hiding torches which no one had to do in the old adventure mode.
I don't know about pots, but glass is not hard to break, although it really has to be done intentionally, versus torches and pots and plants, which are destroyed in one hit.
There is a way to have only you be able to break stuff
Agreed. If I were to play in an adventure mode map, I wouldn't want to cheat. I would want to enjoy the plot and have fun. Everything everyone is saying is true.
I'm not saying that people will cheat, it isn't that hard to accidentally break a weak block like torches or glass while trying to kill zombies
Its Simple
1. do /gamerule mobLooting False so that mobs dont drop ANYTHIG
2. Hide All Redstone
3. Think In a Players Perspective. Most players dont cheat

Correction t my other post: I need moblooting on because the game relies on xp as a currency
Thanks for reminding me about the moblooting gamerule, I honestly forgot about that one. There is still the fact that even without tools, players can break torches and glass.
The players can just decide not to break a block ._.
Redstone should be hidden if used.
If you don't want zombies dropping gear, spawn zombies that are not holding anything.
I know they have rare drops, but the players may not get them, or could use them to fight the zombies.
The reason why you can break blocks is because if you decide that there should be a certain part of your map where the players need to break things.

I think that we should atleast have an option to toggle off block breaking though. Also, all the spawns are from plain zombie spawners but they still have gear sometimes
I agree
It's not a big deal. Most people don't cheat on maps if they want the full experience anyway.
