Hi, I'm having trouble with the new version, in a way..
I used to play 1.8.9 and eventually came across the issue of block lag.
I came online, told people my system stats, and the general consensus was
that I have an adequate machine, noone can figure out why I'm having
block lag, especially when the rest of the game is running fine.
So I got fed up, and downloaded Optifine. Optifine fixed the problem for
several weeks. Then the problem came back.
So with no other options, I stopped playing the game. Hoping that 1.9
would eventually fix it.
I started up Minecraft today. The game automatically updated itself to 1.9.
I went it, and the block lag is still there! I'm not playing with Optifine
selected since I don't think my version of Optifine is compatible with
the new version of Minecraft.
So I'm stuck. Does anyone have any idea what to do???
Pls help. Thank you!

Blame the underground mobs. They're Ravine-nous.

Lower the render distance to load fewer blocks, maybe.

I only get much block lag in servers, and that is because I have extremely bad internet.

It doesn't make sense that only one of my saved worlds has this problem,
and the rest of them work perfectly.

Well I tried clicking and dragging the saved game folder onto my desk top. Then I threw the entire minecraft folder in the trash. Then reinstalled minecraft using my desktop minecraft launcher. It automatically downloaded minecraft and launched it.
I replaced the saved game folder in my minecraft folder.
The problem persists. Any ideas?

Okay, here's an update to my situation.
I've been messing around on minecraft to see if things will
turn around.
I have been playing vanilla single player survival games.
I have several saved worlds, a few mess around worlds, and my
main world which I have been working on for over a year.
Well, in my main world, I have 1.9 features such as the ability
to use a shield and dual wield, but I suffer block lag.
In all my secondary worlds that I don't really take seriously,
not only do I have 1.9 features, but there is no block lag.
Only in my main world do I have block lag. This
is very frustrating.
Why do I only have block lag in my main game?
Is there a way to fix this?
Is there a way to uninstall the game and reinstall it
while not losing my saved games? Doing so in the hope
that reinstalling the game will resolve this issue?
Numerous ideas would be greatly appreciated
as this has been going on in my game for a very long time
and I look forward to being able to play the game regularly
again.

I have this problem with block on a specific y-coördinate, I think it's a bug in minecraft, to my knowledge you can't do anything but wait till a patch (1.9.1) comes out. or wait till optifine is updated.
Sorry I can't help you any further.
