Alpha has always been superior to Beta when it comes to gameplay.
Although there were some great mods and interesting updates brought about by Beta, old fashioned, block by block pixeling and building have - and will always be (imo) - done better in Alpha.

I really liked MC when it was in beta stage but I also enjoy the newest versions. I'm that kinda guy who is half-classic and half-moder, I mean, I want some stuff removed, but some added. I remember when I had most fun in beta 1.6 with my favorite modpack which was discontinued. New minecraft actually is like filled with mods. So I can't really decide which version is my favorite.

^^Lol, I think it was during Beta 1.6.3, my bro placed TNT on my world, so I tried breaking it...

I don't like some of the additions that minecraft has made, but I think that some are cool, I wish minecraft stayed at 1.7.3 but added some small tweaks.

Beta 1.6.6. Before you had to use redstone to ignite TNT. I would go on random server placing and blowing up tnt. XD

Yeah beta was definitely best

1.7.3 was awesome ... the only thing they had to fix was that Diamond armor wasnt worth crafting

Beta 1.7.4 all the way! So much simpler, had a nicer feel, and way better map generation.

I loved that one! I had so much fun in 1.3 too, it was amazing, beta.

I started in beta 1.3 and it was pretty good and simple, perfect for starting.
