D&D Minecraft Session
Hey guys, I got bored and thought of, and wondered at the same time if anyone has done it, but anyway. What would you guys think of Minecraft session where it was people playing D&D in Minecraft, one person has creative and guides the players through their story kinda like a normal D&D session except without rolling to fight
So what do you guys think?

It has a lot of potential as a server/mod. I think we could each advertise this server too if we made a video of us playing the game. If enough attention is attracted then I think that the server would/could be very successful. Or at least this type of server could be good. I'd need to know when this is going to take place well in advanced as I'll have to plan it around work if I'm to play.

That would be fairly fun, but all the enemies would need to be created in a custom mod. For example, you can't spawn an elemental or a griffin with the proper stats and stuff in a premade mod.
The astral sea and elemental chaos would need custom maps and mods are needed for horse-drawn carts and floating castles

I just KNEW it was somewhere along the lines of dungeons.

And before it's asked:
Dungeons and Dragons is a table-top, role playing game.

I've heard of it and did RP some at one time XD I mean i was never sure how to get into D&D lol

OldLinion, basically D&D is a rp of course. Kinda think of Skyrim or any Elder Scrolls game, but with someone else actively controlling the world and your decisions effect EVERYTHING

I've always been interested in trying D&D but i honestly dont know where to begin XD so i may be interested in helping this kind of server or even just taking part.

Gatheron, I would but not in the skype mood, just say you'd be interested here and if a couple more say they're interested I'll make a official post making this real

I would love to do this, add me on skype Chris.Warf (one from detroit)

Well I'll be starting an actual recruiting post if more people post saying they'll join, I got like a 9gb of ram server I can use for it.
EDIT: I also have a teamspeak we can use

I think it's a very cool idea, and I'd be into giving it a shot!

I have had experience playing d&d irl and via Skype. I was a DM once and a player the second time. I've also played the d&d themed borderlands dlc. I'm very interested in this session, and was actually looking for a mod when I stumbled upon this. Let me know if this is happening as I'd happily play. I was also thinking something like technic or one of the other mod packs from technic launcher would be the best way to play d&d on mc, as they have various weapons such as the longsword etc.

Well if people are willing to do it I have a server and I can think of a way to run it, maybe have two dms one to be editting things further on and one to be staying with the players running the campaign right there with them and as I said the other one is editting the stuff that needs to be editted later etc

I thought of this a short-ish while ago too but haven't played a traditional game of D&D yet, so I'd be stumbling through even worse than someone with some prior experience. There would need to be a Dice-roller mod and probably a few item mods, depending on the setting one wants to emulate. OR it could simply be a normal Minecraft adventure map, that an admin can alter on the fly. That would be easier to pull off.

When I started my server, that's actually what we were planning on doing - However, setting it up and making it so that it's realistic is such hard work, I ended up just giving up.

Sounds cool.

I was thinking of doing it but people would need to want to join and Gamecool, if you haven't played D&D then I understand where your coming, essentially it is like what you said but the "God" aka in D&D the "DM" makes a campaign and you do his campaign in a roleplay sense. You make decisions and your decisions will affect the whole story for everyone.

So you basically have the players and the god.
Seems like an interesting idea, as long as the god doesn't overdo it!
