I'm playing skyblock survival , and have no flint + steel.Can anyone teach me how to light a nether portal with just a bucket of lava? (And wood.) I've tried pouring it straight on , and then this.Help me!

Its cause the lava is on a bit of obsidian where the portal would go, and is blocking it.

Dang...My minecraft.jar won't let me put maps in it and stuff...

No, It's singleplayer , and i fixed up there ^ You said it seems like i was doing it right. I thought i was , and everywhere i've looked says to do it like that.

Its skyblock not survival island lol...you need wood and lava...then the wood sets on fire by the lava and sets the portal on fire...it seems like you were doing it right.
