When I take screenshots of minecraft (with the F2 key) I get a very crappy image , I was wondering if there was a way to make the quality better (an alternative way to screenshot images from minecraft perhaps).

I use widescreen, because of my dual monitors. I use the 256x LB photorealism. I suggested Photoshop because it's MUCH easier to crop in that program. And whoever said you had to buy Photoshop to use it? I missed that memo.

Yes, maximizing your screen is what you should do. It will make the image as large as the client screen is.

I'd show a picture of something of mine, but my screenshots are all BigBrother logs. lol

This is a screenshot of one of my projects using F2. Seems to be fine to me. Maybe it's your screen resolution?

My F2 images turn out fine. I don't see the error you have. Maybe it's the size of your screen?

you dont really NEED an expencive program like photoshop to crop it.
i use paint(default for my cpu) and paint.net.

That's true , unfortunately the process is just as long (cropping and what have you). I prefer gimp more by the way lol.

I was afraid someone was going to say that . As long as it doesn't make my creations appear like crap I don't care, thank you for the advice.

The only way to get better quality is by using your "Print Screen" button. Then pasting it into Photoshop and cropping it.
Long tedious process, but worth it.
