i was looking in the minecraft texture files and i found this file that had ski.png do you think that there is gonna be skiing added to the game?

But unlike the skis, the xmas chests already work.
They are probably like the Silverfish in Beta 1.7, their texture is the only thing present for now, but in the next update, they will/might be usable.

once again its a item that was ment to be added but the texture only got added like the steve villager
I'm thinking they are adding Skis in an update along with the Christmas chests.
