Lol people and there DDoS...

1. 90% of SERVERS are DDoS protected these days.
2. your ISP (Internet Service Provider) would definitely notice the stress on your network
and atleast contact you about it. Then you can simply explain what and how. All they have to do is disallow the packages to pass trough there filters.
3. Most ISP even have an automatic filter system to cancel out huge amount of packages send to the same IP.

4. DDoS is old... There are plenty of new ways to take out networks without needing to ddos someone. Not gonna name those of course.
5. Even if your ISP doesnt consider to cancel the packages. You can set your Router or Modem to cancel them out for you. It wont be that effective but it would atleast prevent you from getting disconnected from your network.

Yea, you cant Ddos most websites cause they have cloudfare anti-ddos, only if they had that for personal use

Why is everyone treating DDoS like a murder? Seriously its a packet spam and all that it does is knock your bandwith out just restart the dang thing and its done. If you're not a company or running a server that needs 10.000% uptime then whats the problem?

He might be using a proxy or a vpn :/

(Heres how to not get Ddos'd: Use a proxy, a mirror (very hard) or mabye a VPN)

It's accually really easy to Ddos, if you know what to do... even the popular hacked client "Weepcraft" has a built in Ddos program, that offers many ways to take down servers and websites, and your internet.

If your worried about that. I can tell your server is gonna die from lack of players..


But if he ddoses you, just restart your router. pretty simple. and tell him that You can actually call the police on him for destroying your private internet.

He can't do anything, he is either bluffing, and even if he does then just report him to your local police, the phone harassment's alone will take care of him, if he does DDoS you, then he's in BIG trouble. Just say "C'mon, do it", 90% of the time he won't, if he does go to the police, give them his IP, and they will deal with it, or even better, his phone number and I.P.

If anyone thinks this is wrong, say so, but i've been DDoSed before and the person who did it got in some serious trouble for doing it...

If he is still calling your home phone, or actually DoS or DDoS'ed you, talk to the police. That is what they do. It's literally their job. They WILL handle it. Good luck to you mate.

Get the dude's IP and give it to the police. DDoSing is illegal in the UK and the US.

EDIT: and most other countries.
EDIT 2: If you know his Minecraft username, you can get his IP from your server log.

If he actually called your home phone, then he is under the category of "people who have no idea what they are doing". Block his number, and stop posting your personal information online.

That doesn't work any more. That only worked due to an exploit in an old version of Skype. Ever since like 6.0, the only time your IP is given to contacts is during peer to peer sessions (like calls - and EVEN THEN, you can disable p2p calls in the options).

Calling somebody's phone, threatening them for money, etc. falls a lot into "Don't know what you're doing," You risk a sentence in prison or some Juvenile Asylum.

Yeah something like this has happened to me, except a random kid joined a server, started talking crap, dos'd my internet for no apparent reason and sent pizzas to my house. I got it sorted out with the pizzas though..

He's pissed and since he helped with the permissions for some strange reason he feels that he should get the donation money. I refused and gave it to the new owner. He's threatening to Ddos my internet not the servers.

Oh, and remove him from skype, and you must change a few settings on it.
Tools > Options > Advanced > Connection > Tick "Allow direct connections to your contacts only"
That will make sure he can't get your ip again. Now, you have to make sure that you
he doesn't have any strange permissions on the server. check the ones for his user.

If he hasn't already ddos attacked you, he most likely won't. Just block him on skype and never talk to him again. A guy like this doesn't deserve money.

vold, you don't need to bother. just remove him from your Skype, and if he starts DDosing you, We'll all be DEEPLY surprised.

did you message him back. If he lives near you just tell his mother. She'll kick him into line in a figurative sense.

actually, the police take DDosing very seriously because it's considered a form of hacking an digital attack. as Louis said above me, as well, it's a federal crime. they'll be knocking on the kid's door in no time.

Just leave it. Wait until he does DDos you. Once he starts. Call your ISP, get a log of his IP. Then report him.... Like one of the posts said "The police will laugh" -no, they won't. If they do, you have all rights to get them in trouble. :S
