While the land is teeming with animals and plants, the lakes, ponds, rivers, and seas have nothing besides a few squids. One thing they need to add is fish and other living creatures in the water. It could add a whole new survival to the game. Deadly creatures lurking in the water waiting for their next victim. It could also add new foods or crafting items from their bones and make weapons!
These are just some things they should add creatures the water of minecraft. Saying before there isn't much down there but sand and dirt. There needs something to be there. I really don't care but something to do besides swimming on top of it to the next land source..

Thanks for all the replies, I know mo's creatures is out there but most of the sea life isn't fitting in, the swimming patterns of it are not very good. They body doesn't move side to side like it should. But I should download that mod.

One squid. The size of a ghast. Ability to fly. Appears in the ocean when you are there with an awkward potion. Ultimate boss. Better than the Wither Boss and the Ender Dragon by far. Derp.

So we hace squid, fish, and dolphins, etc, and one giant squid or octopus as the boss mob

Since minecraft has kind of gone to the side of fantasy game I think it would be better to add a loch ness monster style boss to the seas

Minecraft was always a "fantasy" game in the sense of the lore and the community's fan fiction stuff.
A god-like miner locked in eternal combat with his ferocious demonic dead brother? An epic boss battle against a dragon and its many guardians on a floating island in space to stop you from completing the game? An entire mob modeled after a semi-obscure Creepy Pasta submission (which was made famous by a crappy horror game)? Minecraft sort of always had a fantasy factor to it, dude.
About a giant boss in the sea: how hard do you guys think it is to code in a giant retextured squid for a Kraken boss? : P That's all I really want.

This is something we old infdev/indev players have been wanting for 3 years now but Notch, then all of mojang and now Dinnerbone & Jeb seems to not really want to add in stuff that the players have been dying to have.
I think it may not be "exciting enough" for them
However I know for a fact that several talented developers have produced some great mods for fish and other sea creatures / pond life if you wish to install mods to achieve this.

They should add NPC's on boats that have fishing rods and catch fish.

Jeb did say once before 1.3 that he was looking into adding a Red Dragon (which probably got replaced with the Wither) and actually fish under water which you had to catch. So..... maybe..... Soon?

Dunno if this has been mentioned on this thread yet (it's 2am, I dun wanna read), but Jeb has said that he will most probably not add some more - if any - sea creatures as it would be too intensive - even if they were just ambient.

Also, it seems that Jeb should be finally getting around to adding sea life in nearby updates. Think about it. isn't he catering to the fans with things like bats and witches and command blocks? He's doing a great job with the new updates. Let's all hop on the sea life bandwagon and hope he adds actual fish mobs!

Eh, lots of people now are either too lazy or just don't know how to install mods.

Well if they really cared, they'd find a tutorial, right? And mods don't change the whole game, while updates do, which might cause some rage

Yeah, I suppose so. Most updates now cause rage, so it wouldn't really be all that bad.

That is actually not a bad idea. Perhaps things like sharks dwelling in forests of sea weed could be fun.
