It's just a chunk loading error, it happens sometime. Or maybe a terrain generating error. It happens.

Dude it's happened to me heaps of times before and mike is right it must be the seed it's just the logic of minecraft there are always heaps of floating blocks.

Few picture would be nice but if it was near a hill it may just be the seed
