What up with the sound effects?!

Im playing 1.8.1 and ive never updated to a prerealease or anything. I never updated. I play today and the tnt is way different and the bow is different in a bad way. It sounds like a bubble popping. Ill admit the chest does sound better. What gives?

Try pushing f3 and f at the same time.

It happens to everyone, Notch made us all minecraft users auto-update and it changed:
Snowball throw sound
TNT sound
Door sound
Bow sound
As far as I know.

No im on default everything. No mods. No texture packs.

Did you switch to a different texture pack?
I have the same problem with the Faithful Texture Pack.
