Where will Bukkit end up? Post your thoughts!
Since Microsoft bought Mojang, and mojang owned Bukkit. Bukkit will no longer be releasing any new updates. I heard rumors about them making bukkit integrated into vanilla too. What are your thoughts, rumors, and/or ideas about this giant issue.
If bukkit is lost for ever then I will have to shut down my company Minespade Hosting, do to lose of customers.
Great regards,

Don't know where Bukkit will end up, but I have a pretty good idea on where this thread will end up.

The best thing about Sponge is it's forge based, which bridges the gap between bukkit and forge. What THAT means is you can have server-side plugins which can be enhanced by optional client mods.
For example, say you had McMMO on the server. You can now have a graphical level board on your screen, as well as experience tracking, a nice animation when you level up, particle effects when you activate powers and so on.

Well I myself see the situation as went for worse since Microsoft took over. I say that 75% is that Bukkit will probably close. If Bukkit closes probably i'll have to figure something better for my server because I used Bukkit since it's best for plugins & servers and such. I didn't really see this coming of the ''Takedown''. I hope the Bukkit project will continue. We'll see in the upcoming months/years.

There's a promising replacement for bukkit in the works right as we speak. Many of the people who left bukkit joined the Sponge project: http://spongepowered.org/
We probably won't even need bukkit anymore if enough people transfer their plugins (when the API is stable, of course).

bukkit will be made to buy each plugin..

Nope! The majority of Plugins are made by the community and given away free of charge. Would you be happy if you made a plugin and Microsoft just took it off you and sold it?
No you would not. It would not even be theirs to sell so it would even be illegal. Infact, the EULA actually agrees with us on this one It's not so bad after all!

Worst case scenario Microsoft deletes, discontinues, and destroys bukkit witch would destroy the Minecraft community.

No not really. There is tons of players who don't play multiplayer, including me. Saying bye to Bukkit isn't the end of the world, believe it or not. Haha.

It's possible that Microsoft may take up the project of rewriting and updating it.
Even if they don't, I highly doubt that it's "the end of Bukkit" forever
