The good ol' 1.2.5 days. No annoying little brats or money sucking servers. Just good old fashioned fun times.

The 1.92839.2 it's a future one with me in it.

GeneticSteve1.8.8 already has a Forge
already? i think you used the wrong word..."1.8.8 finally has Forge" is what you meant i think..
Mine are 1.5.2, Amazing for mods. but horribly optimized..
1.2.5, because modpacks like tekkit Classic and technic
and i guess 1.7.10, because more amazing mods and its possible to remake tekkit classic now

As good as some of the updates have been I most enjoyed playing on 1.2.5 where everything was nice and simple and just easy to get around, mods were great with it and it just felt like an amazing experience to play

PC: 1.6.4 has the best mods; 1.7.10 too. Now, I'm playing on 1.8 and 1.8.8 (yes, 1.8.8 already has a Forge)
For Console: 1.04. That's when I started playing.
PE: 0.11.0. Skins! Yep, skins.

I'd chose 1.5 because thats when I started playing but then I had t downgrade to 1.2.5 which I kinda liked but didn't because I couldn't do A LOT of things and now I have 1.8 since I actually bought MC.

EDIT: now that i think about it i have no idea if it was 1.7 but oh well

I choose Beta! Can't really pick a specific version, as I don't remember which one I started playing on, but I was around when the old grunt noises for damage was still active. I was also around before the walking sound switched from the sound of dirt breaking, to a softer, less abrupt sound. Really though, what's kept me playing all these years, is the constant development. Even though the players may not think the later builds are "better" (not saying they don't, just pointing out the possibility), Mojang had the knack of constantly trying to improve on Minecraft. I'd say, personally, the fact that the developers seemed just as interested as I (albeit in different ways) seems to have fueled my desire to play. Though disappointed as I am that Mojand sold out to Microsoft, that desire is still present, as 1.9 will soon be released, which offers more to learn, more to experience, and different ways to play. The excitement of waiting for a secret update friday still exists.

Well, it's nice to see it develop and all, but the updates are starting to get really pointless. The things they're adding are things that already exist in free mods. Whenever there's a new update, it makes it harder on server owners and mod creators. That's why you'll find many mods are still in 1.7.10. And of course, the last couple of updates have taken record-breaking time. But you're right, it is nice to see a game developer just as interested in his game as the players.

1.4.7

1.5. This was around the time I got into mapmaking, and when I started to play it more often. I didn't play it nearly as much as I do now when it was only beta, so I don't really remember much from them. I DO remember not playing PC for ages, just XBox, and then I came back and all this new stuff was added. good times!

I really liked 1.4.2
Flower pots
Item frames
Potatoes, carrots, and pumpkin pie
Beacons
Anvils
Command blocks
and so many other things.

Probably around the beta era before all this new fancy stuff was added, who remembers that weird changeover from the old grunt sound when you get hurt to the new broken bones sound? Lol
1
I'd probably say 1.6, since that was around the time I became active on Minecraft (I joined around 1.4). There were also tight-knit communities that existed; unlike big hulking servers that dominate TopG ratings today.

i think though my favorite version if it had to be unmodded then 1.7.3 beta but if it can be modded 1.5.2 release
1.7.3 because... pistons and using them to find a cave right under your dirt hobbit hole
1.5.2 because lots of mods to shove together especially powercraft cause its awesome but i need some sort of aot maneuver gear mod because of... idk why these go good together but they do skyloft and maneuver gear... im not sure... they go perfectly though

I really liked 1.6.4 as that was when I first started to dabble into the Modded MC territory. It really opened up MC to me and is probably the reason I continue to play constantly every single day even now.

I started playing at 1.2.5 too! XD. My favorite is 1.8 because it's the one I have gotten used to and it has many features but still is considered quite vanilla. 1.2.5 was amazing too. I remember when we didn't even have emeralds or cheats for that matter. We used to be able to play genuine survival back then.

I like 'em all, baby!

I like 1.8.8 because the adventure map stuff in 1.8 is AWESOME and the older 1.8 versions didn't have security updates and I want my stuff to be secure.
1
i think those were the security patches for code writing glitches (like the super mario world credits warp) and also werent in earlier versions or hackers didnt know so nobody noticed
1
Well, I quite like 1.8.8.

Mine is probably somewhere around 1.3. Was still fairly new to the game but knew my way around. It was simple and I liked it.

1.7.3 beta, felt best when I played it.
No annoying kids, not so many servers, friendly communities and game just felt good playing and learning new things. I still remember till this day that I thought that sheep were polar bears when I saw them from up a mountain I got up wasting my first mc day.
Weird or not but good thing is there are still some 1.7.3 server so yeah, I beat nostalgia.
