Do you need permission to make a mod showcase?

Hello. I just recently made a mod showcase for youtube. Its private right now. I credited the mod author in the video and in the description. I asked here on planet minecraft if it is okay to upload but I don't think the mod creator will respond since it's been a year since the mod was updated. I was wondering should I keep waiting and not upload it or should I upload it. If I do upload it and wasn't given permission what could happen? Thanks for reading

All things created for minecraft are in the public domain, and this falls under fair use anyway, no way you can get in trouble.
