Block spawning
does anyone know how i'd make my block generate near the players spawn point when the world is generated and only generate once

how about you attach a redstone repeater set with delay up to a dispenser which drops items from the ceilings as soon as they spawn?

Look at Minecrafts class files. Look for the one with the Starter chest, and try and learn from that.

oh right, no I'm not sure. seeing that I'm not a pro modder but a timer sounds like something that would go into a plugin, but maybe :/
you cant just make it in your mod?
