Installing beta 1.7.3 mods with new launcher?
I want to install aether 1 for nostalgic reasons. The trouble isn't installing the aether mod I did that back in the day and if I use the old launcher to start the game it works. However after the addition of the versions folder and removal of the bin folder I haven't got it to work. Is it possible and if so what would I need to do?

First, you would run Beta 1.7 with the Launcher
Then go to %minecraft%/versions/beta-1.7
%minecraft% is your main MC directory which is usually %appdata%/.minecraft
You would open the beta-1.7.jar with WinRAR or 7z and put modloader and the correct mods
Then go back to the Launcher and Launch beta-1.7
I think you also have to delete META-INF, If I'm correct

SirBlobmanWhat are you having issues with exactly?
The minecraft.jar is now in /versions/<version>/<version>.jar
I know. maybe I did something wrong not sure. When installing a mod with forge it creates a version of its own. I guess my question is how do I do this with my own jar. Back when the mod was first released you only had one jar and placed mod loader and the wanted mods inside it. You didnt need a version and .JSON file. How would I go about getting one of those specific to beta 1.7 with the aether mod installed to it?

The minecraft.jar is now in /versions/<version>/<version>.jar
Example:
versions/1.8.8/1.8.8.jar
