I don't know. The real issue often isn't actually the minecraft version, it's the forge version, so if a mod requires a version of forge that's only available for 1.12.2, it's not going to work on 1.12. But 1.12 mods should always be compatible with 1.12.2, because there aren't any major changes.

"If you want your 1.12.2 Mod to be downgraded to a 1.12 mod the only thing I can say is this: Try, because some mods are made to be compatible with both 1.12 and 1.12.2, however some mods (Such as my SuperHero mod) won't be compatible with 1.12. I made it for 1.12.2 and I can change it, but I don't want to"
In other words he told me: Try it out, some mods will, others won't.

ok thx also i got some knowledg under my belt now so i know It's never 100%, but as a general rule mods are forward but not backward compatible across minor version changes. So a mod compiled for 1.12 will work in 1.12.1 and 1.12.2, but a mod compiled for 1.12.2 won't work in anything lower so i pretty much answered my own question lol

because i want to use as high a version as possible while still getting good performance i was running on 1.6.4 for a while before i used my product key and got windows 10 now im running a LOT fasterso im working on 1.12 now but for some reason 1.12.2 wont even launch apparentely its my graphics cards
