Free or Pay to Play

my server atm is down because of internet issues, but do you think i should switch to pay to play. which do you think is more fun/more successful and what are your opinions?

here's my take on it (pros and cons)
Pros
Pay to play would mean you could get an offsite hosting server, possibly faster, with more slots
It would limit the griefers/really young players/really new players
Cons
you need to be fairly well-known in the community to convince people to pay to play, otherwise they'll be worried they're getting scammed
you're oging to limit your player base a huge amount
you have to have something really special to merit paying for play
