How to set server to allow back versions

Hello everyone, I'm hoping to get some advice on how to do something. So please if you can help do so.
We have a Spigot server running 1.12.2 and we would like to allow players running 1.12 and .1.12.1 to play as well. Is there a way to do this and if so how?
We are not modded, but do have plugins running. However the plugins are the same as we have had through the previous versions. I attempted to research this online but do to lack of proper wording never found a clear answer(my fault I'm sure).
Please if you know how to do this let us know. Thank you in advance.

ViaVersion is for 1.12 servers (for example) willing to support 1.12.1 and 1.12.2 to join.

You can use a plugin called ViaVersion or another one called protocolsupport.
