Diamonds and emeralds are like likes on other platforms. Diamonds are for submissions and emeralds for threads/comments.
Hearts aka Favorites are used to follow a submissions. That means, if you favorite a submissions, you will see updates regarding that submission in your feed.

A long time ago, a sport was played within the UK known as "Melon Chomping".
Melon Chomping was uncommon, yet it was simple as heck; just.eat.melons.
The person w/ the most melons eaten was considered a "meeleater", and the max amount of melons that could be gobbled up in time by a person was near 50, so the meanings collided.
