Does publishing a project before it's finished pay off?

I wonder if there are any benefits to publishing your creation with a progress of < 100%?
Does it actually give you more views (and comments + diamonds) if you do this, or are people going to check it out early, not care and never come back once it's finished?
I am very curious to know whether or not I should start publishing my projects before they are finished.

Updating the update log makes your project on top of the Projects list.
When I shared my work in progress map, it got 47 views. And 26 views more after uptading.
