I always play Minecraft through the Minecraft Launcher, and I've never, until yesterday, come across this problem. You see, when I try to open the Minecraft Launcher it says:
"This application requires a Java Runtime Environment 1.5.0". I don't know what to do!
I've updated Java. I've reinstalled it, as well. And still, no luck.
Oddly enough, however, the .techniclauncher still works, and I can still play Tekkit, Technic, etc. Can someone please help?

If you have Windows, search up "add or remove programs" in your windows search bar located on the bottom right screen. Then Remove ALL your java downloads. After that, go install Java 64 Bit, if you have google chrome, if not, then download Java 32 Bit

You probably need to re-install Minecraft then/or restart your computer.

Try re-updating java.
