Increasing Server banners to 1MB?

Hello PlanetMinecraft staff,
For the longest time, I've always struggled with getting an animated server banner to fit the harsh limit of 250KB for server listings.
My server banner is optimized to fit under the standard 1MB that most server listing sites have, and PMC's size limit is difficult to work around because of the fact that it's so strict.
On behalf of other server owners here on PlanetMinecraft, I think it is in the best interest of the community, server space permitting, to allow server owners to upload banners the size of 1MB max.
It would allow me and many others to post more interesting, dynamic, and not-as-spammy banners on our server listings, and I think it would be in the benefit of the community as a whole.
I sincerely hop you will consider this, and I hope there is a chance of it being implemented. Thank you for your time.

Really i think the current size is fine. Ive never had any problems uploading a banner.

We decided not to do this. The reason is because some pages can show up to 50 servers, and expecting users to download 50 MB of data on one page is a bit insane. Think about the bandwidth, guys.

That is true, take longer to load server banners.

Or you know, add a way to have the banner be linked to a 3rd party site (Imgur, TinyPic, etc.) so that PMC wouldn't have to store it on their servers in the first place.

Agreed – this would be another great way to allow for greater sizes in the banners without affecting server space on PMC!

I was about to say this. But then if you don't want third party, get another domain like how other big sites do, one for main site. One for data.

Just remember, their servers do have limited space you know, it would be nice, but there are just so many posts, and content that take tons of space on there web servers. So keep that in mind.

That's quaduple the current limit. We have enough times during an average week where the site is slow or unreachable all-together. Most people can fit their desired banners under the current size resitriction. If you cannot, then you need to change your banner to fit our file size.

I agree as well, I don't use animated banners for this reason, it's hard to get good looking ones that are under the limits.

I actually agree. Since most animated banners are up to 1mb usually. Its hard to get one under 250kb that'll fit. I have one that's 750kb and I can't minimize it though its as simple as it can get
